Solution or WorkaroundĮnsure that all new users have the same default schema name as their username within each database. When you change the DBMS of a model containing such objects, and if the new target DBMS does not support them, these objects are destroyed. If users are going to be owning/creating data or making large selection sets that require user logfiles to be created, they must ensure that the user and schema name match exactly.įor more information, refer to ESRI Technical Paper: Setup SQL Server 2005 for ArcSDE 9.1 SP1. This particular problem only occurs with ArcSDE 9.1 sp1 and SQL server 2005, and is a result of the new concept of user schemas with SQL server 2005. The schema set in the database is not the same as the username.ĪrcSDE is hard-coded to look for a schema that matches the user name within the database specified.

I have only just started testing my shiny new version of PD 16.6, so I've only had a quick look for this feature, but not luck so far. However, when I attempt to change the DBMS from native client to use the new ODBC drivers using a FileDNS entry in DBParm, the client always prompts for the location of the DSN file and other connection properties.
We have several databases that are now running SQL Server 2016 that cannot use SQLNCLI10 or SQLNCLI11.From what I understand, we can roll out an update to the native client as long as we don't intend to use any of the features in SQL Server 2016 but that seems like more of a stop-gap measure than a real solution. I think there will be dimensional modeling functionality, but Im not sure. AFAIK, Sybase is working on rolling all of that straight into PD7 DataArchitect. It supports almost every OLAP DBMS out there. It works in 2014, but it isn't supported. Check into PowerDesigner WarehouseArchitect (6.1.5). However, the Native Client is not supported beyond SQL Server 2012. I am supporting a legacy application written in PB Classic that has a hardcoded connection string using SQL Server Native Client (SQLNCLI10).
